2012 American League Cy Young Award Goes to...

David Price
... David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays. Price finished with season with 20 wins, 5 losses, and an ERA of 2.56. The runner up, Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers, finished the season with 17 wins, 8 losses, and an ERA of 2.64.

Looking back on this, although I think many baseball fans that read blogs self select into a group that knows about these types of players, David Price wasn't talked about nearly enough throughout the season. His numbers were ridiculous. I wonder what type of numbers he'll put up this year with some of this pressure on him to repeat against Verlander who is definitely in his prime...perhaps I'll consider looking at it (my blog is http://baseballrethought.com). Regardless, I think the voters did a good job on this one as well as the other awards.
