Manny Remirez to Seek MLB Reinstatement. Serve 100 game Suspension Shortly After

Manny Remirez - 555 Career Home Runs
The legal fees must be piling up following his arrest. Word on the streets is that Manny Remirez is seeking to return to baseball. He will need to serve a 100 game suspension before thinking about stepping onto a Major League Baseball diamond. He was suspended for failing a banned substance test shortly after signing with the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this season. He then announced retirement after the suspension was handed down. He served a 50 game suspension with the LA Dodgers prior.

    Mariano Rivera's 602nd Save Yesterday

The Yankees' relief pitcher and closer Mariano Rivera set an all time Major League Baseball record of 602 saves against the Twins yesterday at Yankee stadium. I hate the Yankees but I have to give credit where credit is due. This seems to be the year for Yankee records. Derek Jeter recorded his 3,000th hit this season to become the Yankees franchise all time hits leader.

Side fact: Mariano Rivera is the only active player that wears the number 42, Jackie Robinson's number. He's the only player allowed to wear the number because the number was retired league wide while he was still wearing it. He basically grandfathered the number in. After Rivera retires, which shouldn't be too much longer, the number will be unofficially retired.

      How to Beat Football Addiction

You can't, but below is a few Week 2 story lines and predictions:

Baltimore @ Tennessee - If Baltimore plays against Tennessee like they did Pittsburgh, they should have no problem achieving a 2-0 record going into week 3. Ravens run game is solid but I'd like to see Flacco achieve a 400 yard passing game.

Arizona @ Washington  - Rex Grossman is known for being consistently inconsistent. Both teams are 1-0, Arizona is going to take this one by surprise. Although, this is most likely a biased decision.

Dallas @ San Fransisco - Dallas should have no problems smashing this team especially after their performance last Sunday in NY. Dallas defense is solid. Romo needs to make better decisions. Note to Romo: If the team is winning, you're in the red zone, it's 3rd and goal, throw the ball away and terminate the play if it starts to go awry. DO NOT, under any circumstances, make a dash for the goal line. Terminate the play and allow special teams to get 3 points.

Oakland @ Buffalo - According to ESPN, Ryan Fitzpatrick is their highest rated quarterback. It'll be interesting to see if Buffalo can beat Oakland. If they win, and Fitzpatrick puts up numbers again, you may have to start looking at them. Also, Fred Jackson had a 112 yards rushing.

Cleveland @ Indy - If Indy doesn't win this game....... their season is over and they are officially a lower tier team. It's crazy how much of a difference losing 1 player means.

Tampa Bay @ Min - I know McNabb can throw for more than 39 yards in 4 quarters.

      Manny Being Manny Again

Recently retired Major League Baseball player Manny Ramirez was arrested tonight after a domestic dispute with his wife. During his 19 year career, Manny recorded 555 home runs. There are only 13 players to hit more home runs. As you may or may not know, Manny's career ended on a down note after failing baseball's banned substance tests. The first time he served a 50 game suspension. The second time he was facing a 100 game suspension at which point he decided to call it quits.

Everyone else has been mathematically eliminated with Baltimore, once again, in dead last place. The Orioles currently have a 58-87 record. The Orioles could place second to last if they can post a better record than Minnesota who currently has a record of 59-87.

      Ravens Stomped the Steelers

I didn't see this coming when I posted my predictions for this game. I imaged it would be a close game won within 3 points. And I also, predicted the Steelers to win. I was wrong.

The Steelers' inability to run the ball contributed to the loss. The Ravens defense forced the Steelers to play in a one dimensional offense the entire game. The Steelers were only able to produce 57 total yards rushing compared to the Ravens 170 yards rushing. Ray Rice had a good game contributing 107 rushing yards to the offense and Ricky Williams rushed for 63. The Steelers have a lot of adjustments to make if they want to see the playoffs again this season. If they keep playing like this, Baltimore will be the only playoff team in the AFC North.

      Tony Romo = Choke Artist

Really, Romo? The Cowboys defense was uncanny last night and you had to throw everything away. It's not the interception that was thrown that annoys me. It's the fact that the Dallas offense was in Jets red zone on 3rd down. The ball was snapped and the pocket was collapsing so Romo decides to roll out of the pocket. He doesn't see any open receivers, so instead of throwing the ball away and kicking a field goal, he tries to run for the first down which ultimately resulted in a fumble. This Dallas loss is all your fault. Normally I can place the blame on the defense but not last night. FAIL, Romo. FAIL.

Correction/update: Romo was not running for the first down, he was running for a touchdown. It still doesn't make the situation any better. He should have thrown the ball away and kicked the field goal.

      It's Week One

Finally, week one is here. Today should be a solid day of NFL football. Below are games that I'll be paying the most attention to:

Steelers at Ravens - This is an important game for both teams early on. This game could decide who is the AFC North Division leader and who gets to the playoffs via wild card. A close one but the Steelers will come away with the win. The Ravens cannot beat Ben Roethlisberger.

NY Giants at Redskins - Also a divisional rivalry which should be a good game. I think it will be close, maybe within 3 points of each other but NYG will most likely come away with the win.

And of course the prime time game the Cowboys at NY Jets. This is an important game, this will let us know how good the Cowboys are going to be this season. I'm not sure about this match up. The Jets could easily take this win no problem with their defense alone. This victory depends on how well the the Cowboys defense holds up.

Also, don't forget to start your Fantasy players.

      Good luck.
      Peace.

Tomorrow is Saturday... Another round of College Football

Another round of College Football: Lets look at the AP Top 25 rankings going into the weekend.

      1. Oklahoma
      2. LSU
      3. Alabama
      4. Boise State
      5. Florida State vs. Maryland this season
      6. Stanford
      7. Texas A&M
      8. Wisconsin
      9. Oklahoma State
      10. Nebraska
      11. Virginia Tech
      12. South Carolina
      13. Oregon
      14. Arkansas
      15. Ohio State
      16. Mississippi State
      17. Michigan State
      18. Florida
      19. West Virginia (Next Week @ Maryland)
      20. Baylor
      21. Missouri
      22. South Florida
      23. Penn State
      24. Texas
      25. TCU

Maryland doesn't play again until next week but is should be a good game. Even though Maryland is undefeated they still can't rank. These are only AP rankings. There is also USA Today rankings that Maryland also isn't on. I usually look at the AP rankings, it's a matter of preference. Neither media outlet is more credible than the other when ranking college football teams. That task is handled by a computer on week 8. This is called the BCS standings where they use a computer to determine who goes to the BCS Championship and other various bowl games.

What I typed above is the stupidest, most illogical method to determine who should play in the championship game. It should be determined by wins and losses. Could you imagine NFL using the method to determine who goes to the Super Bowl every year? No, because that's stupid.

But I'm not naive enough to believe that they just can't figure out a more logical way of determining the BCS Championship. There's a reason they don't change it. Too many corporations have their hands in bowl games. It seems like there is a bowl game for every company. You got the Chick-fil-a bowl, Capital One Bowl, AutoZone Liberty Bowl. etc. Click here to see the entire list.

      Speaking of New Uniforms...

...I like the new Washington Wizards uniforms. Still not sure about the Maryland Football uniforms.

      0

      New Maryland Uniforms

I'm not sure how I feel about the Maryland football uniforms. There are times when I'm like,"These uniforms are tight." Then there are times when I say,"Not so sure anymore."

Look at the picture to the left. The uniforms look alright.Shoulder pads matching helmet, that's cool.

This side of the uniforms looks like some checkered Steelers helmet. I know its part of the Maryland flag. Actually, it reminds me more of Charlie Browns shirt made into a helmet/shoulder pads. I Still don't have a problem with it though...

...Until the 2 are combined. That's where the conflict is. I don't think my mind can grasp all that is happening on their uniforms. I spent more time trying to understand the uniforms than I did watching the actual game.

They have more variations to come. It'll be interesting to see what else Under Armour has designed for Maryland Football. I hope Maryland Basketball doesn't get any ideas.

      Fantasy Football Draft Results

      Fantasy Football Draft Results

I got first pick this season. Luckily we drafted after news got out about Arian Foster's hamstring injury. I would have picked him first had it not been for the injury. Instead I picked the one and only, Adrian Peterson. Full draft results of my league below.

The first 12 picks in my league were (12 man league):

      1. Adrian Peterson
      2. Chris Johnson
      3. Ray Rice
      4. Rashard Mendenhall
      5. Arian Foster
      6. Jamaal Charlse
      7. Aaron Rogers
      8. Darren McFaden
      9. Andre Johnson
      10. Larry Fitzgerald
      11. LeSean McCoy
      12. Michael Turner

My next 2 picks were Matt Forte and Peyton Hillis. When picking first, I always try to solidify my RB core before addressing other positions. Just the way I draft. After which I picked up Cedric Benson. I drafted 4 backs before drafting Matt Schaub with the first pick in round 5. Then I got into the WR, TE, DEF, etc. Looking through the match ups on paper. My team has a good chance of reaching the playoffs granted there aren't any key injuries. My full roster is below:

QB - Matt Schaub, Matt Castle
RB - Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte, Peyton Hillis(RB/WR), Cedric Benson, Brandon Jacobs, Jason Snelling
WR - Malcom Floyd, Austin Collie, Hines Ward, Johnny Knox
TE - Tony Gonzalez, Zach Miller
      DEF - San Fransisco
