Orioles Progress over the Last 5 Seasons

Lets take a look at the progress the Orioles have made over the past 5 years. Below are a few graphs I created to show the trends in Batting Average and ERA.

As the graph shows below, batting average has declined over the last 5 years. To be fair, it seems like batting averages league wide have been declining ever since Major League Baseball implemented a banned substance policy.

Team ERA was actually better in 2010 than it was in 2011. Even though the Orioles pitching has gotten better, the Orioles ranked 29th, 29th, 30th, 27th, 30th in 2007, '08, '09, '10, '11 respectively. It's clear that the Orioles need to focus on nothing but pitching coming into the 2012 season.
